by Adam Pirkle Aug 09, 2004 We made it! Everyone rode into Anchorage today safe and sound, with most of the bikes in one piece (Steve's rear deraileur arm sheared right off, so he had to shorten his chain and ride it in singlespeed style). We had a barbecue with the Alaska Texas Exes; I ate caribou steak, the best salmon and halibut that I've ever had, reindeer sausage, salad, garlic bread, homemade blueberry pie, cake, et cetera. It's going to be hard to stop eating so much food; I guess I'll just have to continue biking 100 miles a day after I get home so that I can keep eating tons of food. It's almost surreal that the trip is over. I don't think it's really started to sink in yet, much like it took a few days at the beginning of the trip for me to realize what I was getting into.
