by Roseann (Rosie) Trevino Mar 08, 2010 This past saturday I completed my first century ride (100 miles)! I guess you can say that this is a 70th of the way to Alaska, being that we'll ride about this much everyday for the 70 days. Well... there are rest days involved, but still, this is the idea. I'll be honest, I couldn't stop thinking about riding today. I just want to ride and ride. I have also taken up Bikram yoga and it has helped tremendously with my training and life! Just thought I'd mention that piece of information that is important to me as well. Every Saturday morning we have our team rides and the mileage has been building and building. Everyone is doing great and just attacking those hills and anything else that comes our way in whatever weather the day brings. This past saturday a group of us wanted to do the extra mileage that it took to complete a century. The team ride was a nice hilly 46 miles , and so a group of us, decided to do another 54 miles. I'm sure many more would have joined in on the fun but there is work, school, work, t4K stuff and so on and so on. This century club, that Jack has named it, will hopefully only grow so that we can all be prepared for our centruy test in April. It is quite a learning experience and I thank everyone that went for all the advice, knowledge and encouragement. I should have eaten a solid lunch and drank more water. Lesson learned! A better dinner the night before is also in the plan. Thanks Jack for opening my eyes with all your knowledge and for helping me in many ways. Andrew Porter, you stuck with me on that "kicker" and that was when my mind left the pain and thought about those who aren't able to do this. I just kept telling myself to keep going on that never-ending hill, so it seemed like. Thanks a lot. Thanks to everyone else that did the century ride and to the rest of the team for pushing and for your bright faces every saturday moring.
