Black lung!?!?!?

So... I went out on my first ride with Jackson Reynolds yesterday!! :) I had a great time, and Jack is super duper helpful! The whole time, he was giving us pointers and encouraging us up every hill. He would also drop down to help out whoever needed it on a one-on-one level. Jack is just super duper sweet! Lol It's hard for me to imagine that he's only 20! My age! Wow! I have just always kind of looked up to him, especially when it came to cycling! He's been biking since he was 13, and he has his signature tights that always seem to be falling off! (Jack is super skinny though; I heard he has a cyclist's dream body! LOL) I wish we were closer, but we generally drift away from each other to speak with different people at T4K events. He was my co-little to Julian Jones from the 2009 Coastal Route!

Anyway, Jack took us out on 360/Bee Cave which is like break-leg killer hills for me! Lol I definitely need to keep doing this route for a while! Well, I noticed half-way through the ride that my lungs started to hurt from breathing in the cold air... I was also taking in short, abrupt breaths rather than focusing on long, deep breaths. (Need to work on that too! LOL) Anyway, for the next couple of hours, my lungs/chest continued to hurt, and when I got to band, I noticed they hurt even more as I took in deep breaths to play my saxophone. I asked Sarah Fernandez, my go-to girl when something's wrong with my body, her opinion, and she immediately responded with... "Girl, you probably have black lung!" I assumed she was right; she knew everything! I proceeded to ask her what that is, and her response was... "It's a lung infection that you get from excessive exercise in the cold. Ask your fitness director, John Fitch." AHHHH! I was sooo scared! I started to think I was dying or something because the name just sounded so horrible! Well, Sarah is a LIAR and a really bad TRICKSTER!!! LOL I spent the rest of band practice freaking out and worrying... then she laughed and spilled the beans at the end!

Oh, Sarah Fernandez... :)
