The rain is back again...

So I host a 8 am ride every monday, wed, and friday. This morning I was surprised that it was actually above 50 degrees. I told myself I was going to do a longer route because I needed to burn off the massive amounts of calories I consumed watching the Saints bring it home yesterday. I was excited that I didn't have to put on 5 layers of spandex to function in the recent cold weather.

On my way to the general meeting spot on the UT campus, I soon found a light rain upon me. I met up with Charlie who ended up being the only person who showed up for my ride this morning. The rain started coming down more, but we still decided to go on the route I had planned.

Long story short, we ended up cycling in some pretty heavy rain which brought mud and some slick roads. We were extra cautious and took each turn and stop with concern. We both agreed it was a blessing in disguise because I know this summer in the Rockies isn't going to be all that dry. Physical training is very important, but I believe it is also crucial to train in different conditions. Both routes are going to have very diverse climates and conditions that we need to be prepared for.

My left knee started acting up and hurting a little towards the end of the ride. I had to completely clean my bike when I got home and re-lube the chain because the conditions gave it a run for it's money. I will be icing my knee tonight after our weekly T4k meeting.

I hate cancer,

John
