Go Hard

I want to feel like I've accomplished something once I reach Alaska.

Don't get me wrong; biking from Austin to Anchorage is quite an accomplishment in and of itself. But I want to feel like I've REALLY done something by the end of it. Sure, I could spend ten hours a day on my bike and get there no problem, but I'd rather push myself at a faster pace and be exhausted at the end of the day than roll into the next city witout breaking a sweat.

I'm not saying it's going to be easy to ride a hundred miles everyday, and I'm not trying to diminish anybody else's accomplishments. But in the end we're all different both mentally and physically and we all have different motivations and goals going into this. It's only natural that because of this we're going to split into different groups along the way and reach the finish line at different times. For those of us crazy enough to sprint our butts off, averaging 12 mph just doesn't cut it. It's not a workout and it doesn't help our training at all.

It's the things one doesn't do in life, as opposed to the things one does do, that create lingering regrets. I don't want to have any regrets at the end of this journey.

Having said that, major props to Ashton for grinding through those 25 miles today like a champ.

On another note, I was at a party last night talking to one of my friends from Blazers when he introduced me to his friend Whitney. Whitney's mom is currently undergoing treatment at MD Anderson for stage IV breast cancer, which has spread to her spine. Whitney said her mom appears to be responding well to treatment; I can only hope for the best and add her to my list of people I ride for. Livestrong.

"So I am, I will, I got to go

I am gettin' it in until the end I gotta go (go), go (go), go (go)

Go hard"
