by Gabriel Cintron Jan 26, 2010 It’s been a little less than two weeks since I’ve had my surgery and I’m feeling better and better each day. Adjusting to having my writing hand in a cast has been frustrating, but hasn’t been too bad. Now that I’m back in the swing of school, I have to write for labs and classes that I have to do calculations for, such as physics. Finding a way to write without my thumb has been… interesting. I just had an appointment with my surgeon this morning. He took the staples out of my hip, took the stitches out of my wrist, and put on a smaller cast. He said everything seems to be healing well. I’m very eager to get back on my bike. I see the emails that all my teammates are sending inviting people to ride with them and can’t help but want to join them. I’ve been trying to convince myself that it’s time to get back on the bike but I hear more sensible people like my dad and some of my teammates reminding me that I just had surgery and to let my body heal for a couple of weeks. As much as I don’t want to admit it, they are right. I have to allow my wrist to heal so it can be 100% for the summer. Sometimes, the hardest part is waiting. I’ll be riding with my teammates soon enough.
