by Steve Bryant Jul 31, 2004 Well, phone cards in Canada haven't really been working, but we're all doing great. Today, we got to ride with the Rockies, so a few of us on the Sierras put on some warpaint. B-Hard and I went full on chain greasage, while Suchin and Scott had lines/smudges under thier eyes. Altogether, the ride was great. I got in a hundred after a small tour through a neighborhood in attempt to find the Rocky camp, but what was cool was the 18.4 average. I miss my mountain bike though, after about 4 miles through some rough trails by the road to avoid construction. Haines Junction is a cool town, and in general, the Yukon has been amazing. Bears are a regular sight along the road, but I haven't seen any Grizzlies yet. It's just been miles on end of unspoiled land. You can get to the top of a hill, stop, look around, and not see powerlines, roads, or houses, and you can yell and hear it echo on pristine mountains. My mind is a little scattered, with too much on it for me to concentrate, but I'm alive, and today was fun. Alaska in 3 days, WOOHOO! See everyone in a few weeks. -Steve
