by Karen Wood Nov 16, 2009 Today I want to talk a little bit about someone who I find remarkable, his name is Jordan Deathe and he is one of my teammates. When I met Jordan, all I knew about him was that he seemed extraordinarily sweet and kind-hearted. He constantly made me laugh and seemed to brighten my day every time I talked to him. A couple of months later I found out that he is a survivor of non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Finding this out was quite a shock. I just couldn't believe that someone so young, energetic, and joyful could have been through all of this. I began to look at Jordan in a new light, not only was he that funny guy that I loved talking to but he became my inspiration. I find Jordan's story amazing, he was diagnosed in 2005, went into remission for a year, and then the cancer came back. He now is in remission again and is one of the most in shape people that I know. Next summer Jordan will be with me on the Rockies Route and I cannot express how excited I am to have him with me on this journey. Jordan has become another reason why I am doing this ride. If MD Anderson had not of helped Jordan with his battle, he wouldn't be here today making me laugh and motivating to do things I previously thought were unthinkable. Jordan makes me believe even more that what I am doing with Texas 4000 is incredible. The money we raise will hopefully help more people to see the light at the end of the tunnel like Jordan has. If there is such a thing as a cancer fairytale, I think Jordan would be it. He has survived the worst and is going on to make an extraordinary difference in the lives of those who are also afflicted by cancer. So next summer even though Jordan will be right beside me, I still ride for him and cannot express how truly blessed I am to have him in my life. Also I encourage you to watch Jordan's amazing story: http://www.dailytexanonline.com/multimedia/riding-for-a-cure-1.2029971
