by Jared Muston Oct 19, 2009 After much debate and flip-flopping, I finally decided on the Sierra route! I actually chose Rockies at first, but it turned out that most of the guys chose Rockies and most of the girls chose Sierra so they needed some people to switch routes. Since I was leaning towards Sierra in the first place, I was more than happy to oblige. I had a much needed refreshing weekend in Dallas, and now it's time to really buckle down on the workouts again. I've gained 15 pounds since moving back to Austin this summer, some of which is muscle (smiley face), while some of which is, well...not (disgruntled face). My SI joint has been hurting for the past three weeks, limiting what I can do at the gym, and a large amount of homework leads to few hours of sleep leads to not having enough energy or time to do my full workout. My plan is to budget my time better in the hopes of being more productive and efficient when I work out. A steady flow of caffeine through my veins should help. I was able to run today for the first time since hurting my SI joint a few weeks ago. I [might have] managed to pop it back into place this weekend. It still hurt a little bit today towards the end of my run so I'm still going to lay off the squats and deadlifts for a little longer, but hopefully I'll be in full shape for the 5K benchmark run this Saturday. This weekend my mom told me about a little girl who goes to my elementary school, Stonewall Jackson, who was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkins' lymphoma. She started chemo immediately since the cancer is so advanced. She's only in 3rd grade and has a tough fight ahead of her, so this week I ride for her.
