by Michael West Jun 04, 2004 Greetings from Fort Worth, TX. The ride here from Lancaster took us over a few lakes and through some great country. Paul and I missed the turn to our destination, and ended up about 10 miles away at a Rent a Center. But Dave generously allowed me to make a long distance phone call so I could get the calvary on the way and save us from the wild city. When we finally got to the apartment, I took a refreshing swim followed by a hot shower and dinner. But so much has happened since I last talked to you all. We spent Wednesday night in Italy at the community center and took showers out back by the fire department with a water hose. Italy is a quaint little town, and we were right on main street. Laura and I went accross the street in the evening and Seargent Smith taught us to play 31. Now we have a deck of cards and written direction on how to play. The community center was great for our organizational meeting as well as a workshop for me to install my rear rack on my bike, and of course, we slept well. Early in the morning, rise into the street, get out my bike and I'll strap shoe on my feet. I found a reason. It is an amazing thing for such a small town to be able to support a group like us so well. The generosity of these people is inspiring to my soul. The ride on Thursday to Lancaster was short and sweet. And the Henna's were waiting for us with a open house and a beautiful piece of land to camp on. The burgers filled our stomaches and the bon fire filled our spirits. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity. Hi Gramma, I hope you power is on now, and I am sorry I misseed you in Dallas.
