by Eric Chen Aug 08, 2009 Today's ride was a bit tougher but still not too shabby. The road conditions worsened from a nice paved highway to a lot more gravelly roads. Little headwinds, but much hillier than yesterday's ride. Tonight we're staying at a lodge in Destruction Bay. The history behind this community is that it was the former site of a military camp and now has become a small community. The lodge we stayed at sits by a lake--in which I took my first lake shower, or as we call it "Bronner shower." It was also the first time, I skinny dipped in open water, and it was absolutely freezing... but so worth it. I felt clean and fresh as I returned to the lodge. Tonight we feasted on bison burgers, donated from Gary, a gentlemen who helped us set up the housing for today. We got to hear his story and got to share ours. It's been a great day-- and I can't believe there are only 8 days left! Can't wait until Anchorage. Until then, take care and thanks for following.
