Day 59 - Smithers to Whitehorse, YK (774 mi - driven)

Today was a LONG drive. We woke up bright and early (3:30am) to hit the road by 4:30. We got a free breakfast sandwich donated from Tim Hortons, which is the Canadian equivalent of Dunkin Donuts—simply fantastic. After our filling breakfast, we hopped back into the vans with all of our bikes and luggage packed into the trailer and headed to meet the rest of our team in Whitehorse. The road was ridiculously gravelly and filled with construction (we later found out that Rockies had to ride through that… hardcore!). When we finally got there, it was nearly 11:00pm, and the sun was just going down (there are MUCH later sunsets up north). When we arrived we saw a few Rockies riders—most of them had gone out to explore Whitehorse. But when they returned, it was a crazy reunion. They are all so tight, and I could tell that in their time spent together they really grew close to each other. It was exciting to see, for sure. Can’t wait to ride with them...
