by Eric Chen Aug 05, 2009 Tonight we’re sleeping in the basement of Sienna’s house (recall the family we met leaving 100 mile house—daughter Sienna who beat germ-line ovarian cancer). As we were supposed to be camping tonight, Sienna and her mother Sylvia came by for a visit and brought us refreshing watermelon and offered her basement for us to stay in for the night. It was fantastic, and a special way to end our last night together as Sierras. Tomorrow we drive 700+ miles to meet with the Rockies in Whitehorse. Today’s ride was rather long—92 miles . It wasn’t too memorable. I think at this point we’re all so fatigued and stale that we’re ready for a change of scenery and excited to see some new faces. I spent my last day with my team riding with a bunch of different people and also got some time to myself to think about the past 60 days, the things I’ve learned: living life to the fullest, the importance of persevering through circumstances, and more about myself. All said and done, we made it to Smithers as one teamand we have one last team dinner at Boston Pizza. It was a blast and we’re all bittersweet as ever. I do have mized feelings about seeing the Rockies. It will be exciting seeing friends again, but at the same time out reams have become so different. Regardless, it will be fresh, and we’re only ten days away from Anchorage. Until then…
