by Thomas Neuman Jul 20, 2004 Day 28 The ride today was typical: decent out of Yosemite, all day climbing followed by some flat farmland at the end. Nothing special to report. We are staying at another church in Merced. Some church members took us home with them to grab a quick shower before supper. When we got back to the church supper was served and we had a program. The program went really well and there were a lot of people there to see us. Some of them had visited our website and were really pleased with all of the content. After a great meal and great conversations with the people of the church one of its members volunteered to take all of our clothes home with her and wash them. We, of course, said yes since laundry is a hot commodity on this trip. Skip picked up our mail today and I received a lot of packages and letters. Many thanks go out to all those who sent stuff. I enjoy getting things in the mail because it brings me back home to Texas, which I get farther and farther away from as each day passes. California has been a gorgeous state so far and it is only getting better as we head towards the Pacific.
