Day 23

Boot from the Little Ale'Inn got up early this morning to wish us good luck and to grab a quick picture with us before we shipped off. Today's route was supposed to take us about 60 miles away to Warm Springs, NV but we managed to secure lodging in Tonopah, NV which is 40 miles farther. Up to this point we have done six centuries so we figured why not one more. Looking down the road in Rachel you could see what the day was going to be like. The road ran flat for about 10 miles and then disappeared into the mountains. After about 60 miles of mountain passes and valleys we came to Warm Springs. I'm glad that we decided to go the extra 40 miles because the only things that were in Warm Springs were a building and a natural HOT, not warm, but HOT spring. When we finally made it to Tonapah we were surprised to see that it was the biggest town that we had encountered in Nevada. We had a place to stay at the Mormon Church in Tonopah but we again had no food donated so some of the guys from the first group in went to work as soon as they got into town. They managed to get 10 pizzas and 20 Mc Donald's hamburgers donated. We had quite the feast. Some of the members of the church stopped by to talk to us and to ask some questions about the organization and we were glad, of course to tell them all that they wanted to know and then some. Today was our last full day in Nevada. We cross into California tomorrow and there's talk of an organized race to the border. I wonder who will win?
