Day 32 - Point Arena to Fort Bragg (50 mi)

Today’s ride, however short, was strangely tough for me. Maybe it was the cold, maybe it was the wind, maybe it was the hills, maybe it was that I had sagged the previous day, but I know things can only go up from here. We woke up at 7 am this morning and headed out at 9, an awesome change allowing us all to get at least 8 hours of sleep. Even at 9 am, riding by the coast we were hit with a heavy fog—so foggy we could barely see the coast.

Being a pretty short ride we took a stop at the redwoods forest along the way. They’re kinda tall…

Once we pulled into Fort Bragg, which happens to be a quaint yet nice town, we were welcomed with a rigatoni and salad dinner with an amazing angel food cake with raspberry icing. After dinner, we headed to a place called glass beach, where the beach was made of pieced of soft glass. We got to see the sun set on the ocean—it was absolutely beautiful. You could smell the salty air, feel the cool breeze, and hear the waves crashing on the rocks all along the edge. The vivid colors of the sunset were a plus too.

And of course, for a late night snack—we visited the local McD’s for some ice cream sundaes.

All in all it was a good day. Tomorrow we ride 60+ miles and I don’t expect the weather to warm up or the winds to get lighter. However, I am encouraged by a Psalm one of my friends from TAMS sent me to remind me of the strength of God in all trials.

Psalm 46: 1-7

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble

Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way;

Though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

Though its waters roar and foam,

Though the mountains tremble at its swelling

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God

The holy habitation of the Most High.

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;

God will help her when morning dawns.

The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;

he utters his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord of hosts is with us;

The God of Jacob is our fortress.

Selah.

**Please continue to pray for Esther and her family and friends.
