Day 17 - Kanab to Zion National Park (30 mi)

Today’s ride was a beautiful 30 mile ride to the Zion National Park. For some back history, the Zion NP is the west most part of the Colorado Plateau. Running through the park is the Virgin River which has been running through for millions of years creating a giant valley which makes for awesome hiking trails. Riding in to Zion, we passed over mountains where for the first time, I could scream and hear an echo back. It was AMAZING.

Upon arriving in Zion and setting up camp, a few of us headed for a brief walk around the park where we bumped into a completely docile deer just wandering by the visitor’s center.

We concluded the evening with a bath in the Virgin River awaiting the “restful day” we had planned ahead of us.

Many of us planned to hike the Angel’s Landing which is the hardest path at ZNP. Read the next entry to see whether we made it through alright! In the mean time, enjoy these beautiful photographs of today’s day through my eyes:
