Day 14 - Mexican Water to Shonto (85 mi)

After a tough ride the previous day, today I sagged into Shonto with teammates David and Richard. From what I heard, there was no headwind and the ride was lovely. From what I saw, the route was gorgeous. I managed to snap a few shots of the view from the van.

Another highlight of today… as you may have already heard, is that we found a litter of puppies by our first rest stop. We had to make the tough choice of leaving them behind with some food and water.

For lunch, the McDonald’s in Kayenta helped us out by providing us with fries, drink, and a sandwich for our lunch. Once we got into Shonto, we stayed at its local boarding school, fully furnished with beds (for some) and showers! David, Rich, and I prepared a chicken and vegetable “stir fry” dish over rice and it actually tasted reasonably delicious. Tomorrow, the break is over, and riding commences once again. Until then, God bless!
