Prince George Mail Snaffu

well we arrived in prince george yesterday. it was a nice ride in, mostly because we did back to back centuries for two days so we only had 30 miles to go to get here.

the night before we stayed at the provencial park. because we only had a short ride, we decided to stay at the park until about 12 in the afternoon. not that any of us slept in. we got up and ate a lazy breakfast, went swimming and got a slow start for the day.

the water was nice. we were expecting it to be freezing, but it was actually warmer than barton springs. i tried to swim from the boat dock to the beach (quite a swim) but didnt make it very far. i kept getting nervous that a fish was going to attack and had flash backs to a horror movie about this blob thing that attacked swimmers. pathetic i know, but enough that i decided to swim back. i was also in shorts, a t-shirt and sandals which did not prove condusive to a long distance swim.

we got to prince george at a decent time and went to our hosts house. there was a pot luck dinner for us amongst all the families who were putting us up. it was so nice to eat dishes other than spaghetti. we also got to watch the tour coverage for the day. no one was allowed to tell us the results or discuss it with us until after we watched the coverage on OLN. it was a sweet stage to watch.

so here is the deal with the mail. turns out price george dosent have general delivery. im not sure how we got the inofrmation that it did, but it dosent. so all the items that arrived, they held for about 5 days and then mailed it back. we discovered the problem when one of the members girlfriends shipped something priority. they called her with the issue and then the post office started redirecting the things to an esso gas station. but if anyone gets the mail returned to them, we're sorry about the confusion. we also aren't able to forward mail sent here after we leave. turns out there is about a 6 week delay in all items that need to be forwarded.

all i can say is go us postal service (in more ways than one)
