Today we had our first rest day in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We stayed with none other than 08 Rockies Rider Geoff Abraham's family (his father whom happens to be the mayor of Rio Ranchos--the largest subdivision of Albuquerque). They own this huge plot of land with a full stable, pool, mini-lake, an expansively decorated house, and three beautiful golden retrievers.
They were SO gracious, and our team agrees that we feel like kings and queens staying the night with them. We got to sleep in this morning waking up at a whopping 7:30am, getting some maintenance on our trailers done, and packing all of our bikes to head over the the mayor's house. After dropping our gear off at their place, we made our way over to "The Frontier" for some New Mexican cuisine:
We then proceeded to visit the Sandia Peak via the Tramway. The Sandia Peak happens to be the the highest aerial tram in the world! It was beautiful to see New Mexico for this point of view.
After that, our hosts brought us back to their home and let us relax a bit while they prepared dinner for us. I spent this time, doing some reading and dipping my feet in the pool for a bit. Soon, we ate, and it was way delicious! A steak dinner was a great way to end our rest day in Albuquerque.
I gotta get my rest soon! We have a 75 mile day ahead of us, and I should be waking up in 4 and a half hours. Good night Texas!
