Day 18

It's always good to have a short ride into a place that you have a day off. The highlight of today's ride was the 4 mile downhill at 8 percent grade. What a screamer. We stopped about 5 miles before Zion National Park at the Buffalo Grill for some free Buffalo Burgers that Cowboy Ted from Kanab had gotten us. They were different but good. Thank goodness that they were free because there is no way that I could afford the $11.25 regular price. After a short ride we were in Zion National Park and had camp set up in no time. Zion is filled with breathtaking views of sandstone canyons that shoot straight up over 1000 feet. A few of us went to check out the Emerald Pools before it got dark. The Emerald Pools weren't so impressive but the up to them was beautiful. After we got back to camp we went to Mr. and Mrs. Condit's condo that they rented out for a home cooked meal. With our bellies full we have made our way back to camp and I am going to bed so that I can wake up early and explore Zion.
