by Eric Chen Jun 07, 2009 Today was a long but beautiful day. We kicked off the morning with a great breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh pineapple, and hashbrowns cooked by our fantastic 2008 ride team. It was great. With only us T4k riders remaining, the 08 riders led our first official team ride dedication and passed on the tradition of the Hakka chant to revv us up for the day to come. The ride itself was only slightly hilly, but very bumpy. We arrived in Brownwood at about 3pm and were greeted by an awesome retreat staff at the Brownwood Lake Christian Retreat. It's a beautiful location and the perfect spot to wind down after a 100 mile day. This morning I rode for James Yin who died of stomach cancer this past year and Jasmine, his little daughter who won't grow up really knowing her father. I pray and hope that we'll make a difference in finding a cure so no more parents will be lost to this disease. Thank you all for following me on this journey and for your continuous support. Stay tuned-- tomorrow our team splits into Rockies (riding northward) and Sierra (eastward). It will be an emotional parting, but for the sake of our mission, we're excited to head our separate ways. Until tomorrow! p.s. special thanks to Mission Sunscreen for their generous donation of sunscreen! This stuff is amazing.
