You better watch out, cancer

In less than 8 hours is our century test...

100 miles. 8 hours. Blood. Sweat. Tears.

I guess you could say that I'm a little bit nervous. Not just for myself, but for the whole team.

We've all come a long way so far. I remember when we all were first starting out just a few months ago. It's crazy to think that we got our bikes not even THREE months ago! It's so amazing how much we've trained and how much everyone has blossomed as a cyclist. It seems like it was just yesterday that we were all trying to crank out 15 miles at the veloway. And now tomorrow we're cranking out 100 miles...

Three months. 760 miles. Countless hours.

I just can't help but think of all the people that I am riding for. I started out in this organization in honor of my uncle Duong Vuong. It's almost been a year since he's passed. And within that year, I have joined an amazing organization, raised over $3,500 so far for cancer research, met many cancer patients, visited hospitals, and have been touched by so many people. It's amazing how much you can do if you just put your mind to it. It's amazing how much you can do if you're so motivated.

Sure there are times when the going gets tough. More and more people are finding out they have cancer. More and more people are losing loved ones to cancer. More and more of us are doing all we can to fight this terrible disease.

I'm not going to lie. I HATE cancer. Like a lot of people on the team, if cancer was a physical object in the room with me? Nothing would keep me from beating it down.

4,888 miles. 70 days. All summer long.

I can't believe that we are leaving on our journey to Alaska in less than 50 days. Today is April 17th. We leave June 5th. That's what? 45 days??

45 days until we leave Austin to go share hope and knowledge all across the United States AND Canada. I always wonder how many people I will meet on the way to Alaska. How many people will share me their cancer story. How many people I will share my cancer story with. How many peoples' lives will be affected by 50 college-aged kids.

How amazing is it that a group of young kids have raised over $1.6 MILLION to go towards cancer research?

I know when the day comes. When we leave the starting grid here in Austin....I will be riding to Alaska with a group of people that HATE cancer. A group that is supported by hundreds of people who have donated to fight cancer. All of us fighting and not willing to give in to cancer.

I feel like this following video expresses all of our thoughts so well:

Cancer. I will tell you this. I will FIGHT you. I will fight you with every ounce of energy in my body. I will not rest until you are defeated. I have an army behind me. An army of people who hate you as much as I do. And we are coming for you.

You better watch out!
