POWER BARS

Yesterday, I rode over 75 miles with my teammates on our longest training ride to date. This coming Saturday will be our 100 mile (known as a "Century") test to make sure we can get through those tough summer days. I train for the strength to get through the summer.

I sucked down six 20 ounce bottles of water. I ate two PBJs, one Cliff Bar, one orange, one banana, one bag of pretzels, and so many POWER BARS that I lost count. I eat for strength.

To be honest, 75 miles is hard. There is one hill to climb after another. The wind seems to always be blowing in your face. The roads could always be smoother. My legs could be stronger. Yet, I'm not riding my bike to be comfortable and have an easy day. I'm riding to honor a number of people that are affected by cancer. I ride to give others strength.

Today and everyday, I want to thank all those that have shared their experiences with cancer. These stories, names, and struggles are not easy to share. I want to thank my fellow classmate for sharing his story about his father's current battle with cancer. I ride to give you and your family hope.

I'm overjoyed on this Easter Sunday by my time with Texas 4000, and my lovely girlfriend and her family. I'm proud of my teammates and thankful because they helped me tremendously on Saturday. I'm grateful for each and every donation that my friends and family have put forth to help me spread this message, a whopping $4,657 message to fight cancer.

I ride because all these people have given me the tools and the strength to endure anything that can possibly come between me and Anchorage, Alaska.
