by Martina Alvarez Jul 10, 2004 WOW--i think i've forgotten how to type--it's been so long since we've been around CIVILIZATION. We are now in Calgary, Alberta. A city much like Austin and we are fortunate to be here during the world's largest rodeo :-) Therefore we are sleeping in a homeless shelter--no joke. But this place (called the Mustard Seed) is so great to us and has hooked us up with our own floor, food, showers, laundry, and a great view of the rodeo's fireworks. Shall i synop (word?) the last few weeks?? Wyoming was good to us. Vast open spaces of nothingness lead to much day dreaming. The geography is actually quite interesting with the Wind River Canyon and Thermopolis--home of the largest mineral spring. On into Yellowstone NP we headed and battled with storms and winds. YSP on bike is the way to go--there are too many boiling mud pits, moose, bison, bears, geysers...ect. to not have easy stop/go access. Once again Montana is very much a blur of daydreaming, and beautiful scenery with killer winds coming off the mountains. We topped Montana off with spending two nights in Glacier NP. I got to spend the day off with John G. on a 20 mile hike through some AMAZING scenery. We topped the day off with a pizza then hitch hiked home. Next it was a race to the border which Brandon took--(my legs were TOOO sore to participate :-) And Canada has been very good to us. There is much unexpected beauty and quantness in the towns. Tommorow we will be volunteering at the shelter and exploring the city then will be volunteering at a marathon on Sunday morning. I must be going to bed so i dont miss the FREE Stampede Breakfast :-) Thank you so much for all those who have supported this ride and those who are currently supporting me with care letters and packages (MOM, G-ma, joe and josie, jennifer parks, j,k,and m, gina) Y'all are Grrrrrreat!
