by Lauren Briscoe Jul 29, 2008 I have had the hardest days of this whole trip in Canada. The day out of Whistler we had the joy of climbing 3600 feet in about 8 miles. My legs were on fire. And in case the climb wasn't fun enough, the entire time, I was being attacked by mosquitoes the size of flies. The day after that was 110 miles from Lillooet to 100 mile house. The entire day seemed to be uphill and in a moment of insanity, I agreed to sag, which means I agreed to be the last rider in to every rest stop, so I spent 11 hours that day sitting on my tiny little bike seat. My butt was not happy about that at all. The night in 100 mile house, we camped out and it rained. My tent-mates are awesome and we got everyone's bags into the tent at 2 am, sparing us a morning of wet clothes (thanks amy!!) But our clothes didn't stay dry for long. I was so looking forward to a short "easy" day, but it was anything but easy. It rained. All ya'll in Texas are probably thinking- oh. a nice refreshing rain. No. Canada rain is frozen and it hurts. 18 wheelers sped past us, spraying dirty cold water on us, which was a nice compliment to the hail pelting our arms and legs. But, to be fair, today was a wonderful day of cycling (save for getting a flat). So maybe Canada and I can be friends soon.
