by Lauren Briscoe Jun 09, 2008 It's day three and I'm already pretty exhausted. I'm not used to this whole waking up at 5 am business. Ask anyone who knows me at all and you'll find that, if given a choice, I would sleep in until noon and not go to bed until the wee hours of the morning. Now, at 10:15, that bed is all I can think about. 5 am tomorrow morning is going to come early. We have a long ride tomorrow from winters to snider? I can't really remember. I just do what everyone else tells me. So far so good, though. We have been met with incredible hospitality everywhere we go. We were hosted by a winery in Lampassas that was so nice and we just had a blast there. The next day the two routes separated which was really sad... I miss my rockies teammates! On the way to Brownwood an amazing baptist church hosted a rest stop and provided amazing food for us. In Brownwood we were met with a police escort and a barbecue dinner and an amazing air conditioned church to sleep in. And tonight in Winters we've been separated into houses where we'll be sleeping in beds!!! YES!!!! And my host is absolutely amazing. We've watched TV and we've downed way too many amazing brownies and tomorrow we're having cheesy scrambled eggs and homemade banana nut muffins for breakfast!!! I'm so excited! Everywhere we go we've been fed and cared for and it's so nice to have an adult figure when you're surrounded by your peers all day (not that my teammates aren't AMAZING!) Also the weather has been just incredible. It's been partly cloudy and not too hot. For the most part the wind has been at our back which has made the days go by much faster. Even still, today was pretty rough for me. My knees have been revolting against the constant movement and my body is just not used to doing so many miles day after day, but I'm sure it'll get better as time goes by. It's strange being with the same group of people 24/7. It's only been three days but we really are becoming a family. I love my teammates and I'm so excited for the rest of the trip. If any of the people we've come into contact with are reading this: Thank you so much for being so incredible. We really can't thank you enough. Your generosity and kindness has truly left us speechless and we've been so inspired by your stories of how cancer has effected your lives. You're all in our thoughts as we ride on. Please know that all you've done for us is so appreciated.
