by Val Hope Nov 15, 2007 Last weekend I had my first panhandling experience at the last home football game (Hook 'Em Horns!!!) and it's been the most amazing experience talking to people... so many people were so generous and even those that didn't donate were so impressed "You are riding you're bike to Alaska?!?" One gentleman asked me if I had a livestrong bracelet and when I told him I didn't but Lance Armstrong was a big fan of the Texas 4000, he told me how his good friend was diagnosed with cancer so he got one of the bracelets to support his friend's battle. He was very sad his friend didn't make it, however he wanted me to take and wear his bracelet on my way to Alaska in remembrance- it was one of the most touching moments. I will always remember this moment and it will definitely keep me going on my long journey to Alaska! I am amazed at people's generosity... panhandling today another gentleman handed me a $100 bill- I was totally speechless and am so grateful for all the support from everyone I have been getting!
