by Michael West Jun 13, 2004 So since the computer just ate my words, you are going to get an out line of my day off at Cheney Lake: 1.DUATHALON: John and I; Abrams waterproof bag carrying our shoes; swim across lake; run back; legs still sore today; what a day off. Yeehaw! I guess that is what I get for training with an Ironman hopeful. 2.DINNER: with the OZ (like wizzard of oz, you know, we are not in Kansas anymore) cycling club and the Snyders. 3.SAILING: skipper Mark of the Cheney Pirates; late night; see stars and lightning all around, but far, far away; the Kansas skies are big; unforgettable!! 4.STORM: I am shure everyone is writing about this experience, so I will forgo the details and just say that I awoke in the middle of the night with much energy, sensing the storm to come, and it was more of a storm than I coulh have imagined. Just so you dont worry, nobody got hurt. In fact, I had a wonderful time. As I said, the night was overflowing with energy. 5.FAREWELL CHENEY: the OZ cycling club saw us off, with a meassage of goodwill, praying for a continual tailwind and downhill ride. The Kansas Crosswind did not want to cooperate today, but the flowers, food and goodwill that this bike club showed us helped us to push through it as if it was a tailwind. 6.WHY I RIDE: As part of a cancer awarness presentation here in Pratt Community college, I shared the reasons why I ride. Now I would like to share it with you. but it is getting late and I want to do a good job on this, so I will save it for another time. Twice in one night is a little much.
