by Lily Gross Jul 10, 2006 Here I sit in the computer lab of a homeless center in Calgary, Alberta. To my right is an Irish WWOOFer (see Liz's latest journal entry) named Aidan who a few of us met while intently watching an incredible World Cup match at an old English pub; and now he's breaking out his viola to fiddle a tune for a lucky audience of T4Kers (me, Jeff, Oliver, Archer and Darius). I had sushi last night with Travis, Vanessa, Em, Ky, Gillette, Megan and Nate - mmm spring rolls! - and true Italian gelato this evening. Cowboy hats are everywhere in celebration of the annual Stampede. We got to see Samuel L Jackson and Josh Hartnett from afar. A street poet approached me on 8th Ave this morning with improv prose, and three tribal flute players serenaded a crowd of which Tony and I were a part. I spoke French with a family of five at dinner and learned some German phrases from a couple at a Mediterranean cafe. At the brink of each new day I haven't a clue what to expect. Entertainment seems to self-manifest without provocation; laughter around every corner. We find unexpected hospitality, make unforeseeable acquaintances, and have to trust that God Above will smile upon our travels as we cross this crazy/beautiful continent. P.S. Family, friends, and Penny Lane: I do miss you all severely.
