Oklahoma- Kansas

Turns out they were right. It poured, prune-like hands and toes are getting to be a regular occurance. A group of us went on ahead and ended up going 20 miles out of the way, but it was almost nice because we discovered we were lost at McDonalds and Mike used the gift certificates his uncle Todd gave him to buy us all breakfast; thanks uncle Todd! When we finally made it to the lunch rest stop (many miles later) we were all a little giddy from exhaustion and we were dancing around and the limbo song came on so everyone at the stop started limboing (Libby is very good at limboing) and there was a photo taken by a news reporter who asked Lorig my name and spelling, so now there is speculation there is a news photo of me limboing in Oklahoma.

We rode into Kansas two days ago, and some riders climbed the state sign to celebrate. In Winfield housing and food was arranged by the fabulous Lonnie Lee, as well as Gamboni's Pizza and Daylight Donuts. It was nice to meet some of the people I've been talking to for so long. We stayed at the United Methodist Church and after we'd spent some time working on bikes (okay, watching Andy work on bikes) we played a couple rounds of sardines, which is a modified version of hide 'n go seek. (Yes, I know I just graduated from college, but that doesn't mean I have to act like it.)

Now we are in Wichita and are having our first ever day off. We're camping on the lake here and I plan on going for a swim as soon as we get back to the campgrounds. The Synders have been helping us immensely (on embarassingly short notice,) letting us clean out their fridge and lie around their pool. Tomorrow we'll head out Pratt and then Tuesday is Dodge City, which means MAIL DROP- if you want to send me anything fun please check the addresses on the website for mail drops. Or you could just email me.
