My name is Adiel Escobedo and I was born and raised in the beautiful northwest suburbs of Houston aka Cypress, TX (“CYP” for all those of you who like to keep it cool). I am extremely proud of where I came from because the area is so unique and a melting pot in itself. I have a little brother that goes by the name of Adrian. We are two proud children of my parents Arturo and Amelia. They are everything to me and I always work hard to make them proud. My father is an extreme hard worker and has always made sure that our family has had the resources to not just get by but to succeed in life. He has taught me to always show initiative and never sit back as the world passes you by. His hard work ethic has kept me going and driven me not to settle. My mother’s love has enough power to truly make the world a better place. Her passion for her family and making sure her children are happy has made my heart grow and given me the drive to give back to the community. Growing up through the K-12th grades I would always get in small trouble for talking. I always credited it to be being sociable and loving interactions with my fellow peers. Sitting around with friends has created more lasting memories for me than any television program or being at home. High School I was highly involved in sports and supporting the Cypress Ridge Rams in all other aspects. Sadly I did not receive an acceptance letter to Texas straight out of high school but I didn’t let that stop me. I went to the city of San Antonio my freshman year to attend UTSA in order to transfer to Texas.
Coming to Texas and living in Austin has truly been as experience that will forever change me in an extremely positive way. I honestly believe I have grown and develop into the man I will be in the future during my time here. Being involved with the university is a very big importance to me. I believe every student should attempt to leave some form of impression during their time here and set an example for incoming students. Be it through service projects, becoming spirited, or being a leader in some form for a Spirit organization, Greek association, or just in the community. That is why I joined the Texas Iron Spikes during my sophomore year. Every single Spike is truly considered a brother to me. I hope to represent them and make them proud during my journey..... I will forever love Texas and will forever be proud to be a Texas Longhorn.
Lastly, physically I may be doing this by myself but with me will be every person who has made an impact on my life. My friends, my mentors, my heroes, and my family will be alongside me during this ride. They will give me the strength and power to drive on.
